Pre-season games for club teams in the year of the Olympic Games are rare, therefore a large number of teams from Germany and abroad signed up for the Sparkassen Handballcup. With 43 points out from 22 matches, Larvik won the Norwegian Championship easily. Despite many injury problems and tough opponents, such as Byasen Trondheim, the victory was never at stake.
