Pre-season games for club teams in the year of the Olympic Games are rare, therefore a large number of teams from Germany and abroad signed up for the Sparkassen Handballcup. Blazenko Lackovic (27) will leave SG Flensburg-Handewitt at the end of the season to play for HSV Hamburg in the future. The Croatian World champion will be substituted by Montenegrin Alan Muratovic (28), who comes from Valadolid.

It hasn´t been finally decided upon the announced good-bye by coach Zvonimir Serdarusic after the next season. After the lost champions-league-final, Serdarusic said during an interview for TV-channel NDR: “I hope I get the chance to win all three titles once more.”
